Dr. Cheluvaraj

As a former Director of Health and Human Welfare Services of Karnataka state, Dr. Cheluvaraj’s administration was responsible for delivery of health and human services to primary, secondary and tertiary health care centers, statewide training and dissemination of disease trends and health practices to physicians and health care workers. Prior to this role, he served as a Medical officer and epidemiologist at the village, taluk and district level health centers for 25 years. His expertise includes public health education in HIV/AIDS, other tropical communicable diseases, health care management, health systems technology and healthcare workers rural outreach training. He holds a M.D. in preventive and social medicine.
Dr. Cheluvaraj’s immense breadth and depth of experience in rural health care is critical to our health initiatives. His thoughtful approach to our child wellness program is invaluable.


Mrs. Sheila Dange

At the Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, Sheila wears two hats in a campus wide effort in civic awareness and social responsibility and outreach activities. As the chief coordinator for extended education and “Pragathi” community service centers, she places undergraduates in volunteer positions in various nongovernmental agencies in and around Bangalore; heads solid waste management program on the campus; teaches certificate courses in life skills and civic awareness and responsibility; and engages students in various activities that teach civic duties, social responsibility, eco conservation, and renewable energy.
Previously, Sheila was partner at Aaren Agencies. She holds an MBA from Saint Joseph’s college and an undergraduate degree from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, Karnataka. More than two decades of Sheila’s wisdom in sustainable development is critical to our programs outreach and effectiveness. Needless to say her boundless energy to address tough challenges is a great asset to our team.


Seema Dawar

In this chapter of life, Seema has largely focused her professional efforts on giving back to community. Currently an independent business consultant, Seema previously worked in the corporate sector for more than two and half decades as manager of marketing and communications at the Hewlett Packard’s head quarters in Delhi.
In her professional role, Seema oversaw executive external & internal communications, crisis communications, corporate events & communications, public relations, advertising, channel, trade, CSR, promotional events, digital/social media strategy and execution. Seema has an MBA in international marketing with an Economics honors from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi. An avid reader and traveler, Seema’s unique talent is to bring diverse group of people to see eye to eye be it social or professional ideas. Combined with this talent, Seema’s strong business, marketing, and communicate skills are powerful assets that help share our work with larger community.


Lieutenant Colonel Pandada Muthappa

A celebrated veteran, Colonel Muthappa served in the Indian army for more than two decades, recipient of “Sena Medal” for Gallantry in 1994 for his outstanding valor, courage, and dedication to duty in a true Kodava spirit. He has been awarded “Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card” in 1989 after he fought against Pakistanis in Siachen Glacier. Between 1990 and 1993, Colonel successfully headed the mission in Jammu and Kashmir to rescue chief minister’s daughter and recovered weapons from extremists. During Kargil war (1998), he held three Flag meetings with Pakistani officers at the Line of Control. He has served as the Black Cat Commandos in the Indian national security guards as well as a specialist in counter hijack operations. In 2001, he headed the rescue mission in Kutch Bhuj, epicenter of Gujarat earthquake received national and international recognition for his humanitarian services.
Before retiring from the Indian army, he served as NCC officer in Tumkur, Karnataka. Currently, he is the Chief Security Officer for the Bosch International. Colonel brings his extraordinary dedication, national pride, and discipline to Arodhum’s overall governance and offers constant source of inspiration to our team and programs.


Ms. Malathi Rao

As a senior lecturer in psychology, Malathi, regularly mentors and counsels rural students on higher education, mental health, and career choices. Her extensive experience is invaluable to our understanding of challenges facing rural students applying to our scholarship program and role played by social and economic factors in educational outcomes of rural students.
Malathi has been teaching at the PA First Grade College and Kalpatharu PG center, Tiptur, (Tumkur District, Karnataka) for 20+ years. She coordinates and conducts seminars and workshops for college lecturers working in rural areas and distance education. She also served as the NCC (National Cadet Corps) officer training rural undergraduate students. During her tenure, Kalpatharu students received Governor’s recommendation for excellent community service.


Mrs. Kavitha Venkatesh

Kavitha is the chairperson of Arodhum India board since July 2014. She is partner and administrative head of the Karthik Engineering, Bangalore. As a Rotary Ann, Kavitha was involved with major service projects, providing resources to impoverished and poorly run schools in Bangalore district. She brings her 20 years of Rotary International service experience to Arodhum. Also her fund raising experience and an in depth understanding of challenges facing children in impoverished schools is invaluable. She plays a critical role in fund raising and overseeing administrative activities.
Kavitha is a graduate of Bharathiyar University, Tamil Nadu, also a trained Bharathanatyam dancer and a skilled artist in Tanjore paintings who has created more than 25 Tanjore paintings.
